William is the 2011 Carson Scholar!

William has been selected as the 2011 Carson Scholar for the Canonsburg Middle School. A teacher is permitted to nominate and submit an application for one student out of the entire school who fits the description of a Carson Scholar. The contest was open to all students at the Canonsburg Middle School who met the academic requirements. The nominating teacher is required to write about the student's reading activity, attitude toward leaning, leadership ability, scholastic work ethic, motivation, and achievements. William was also required to list his school activities, extracurricular activities, community service, and he wrote a persuasive essay based on a given prompt.

He will receive a $1,000 scholarship award that will be invested for his college education. William is among a very special group of over 4,200 students from across the country that have been named a Carson Scholar. His academic achievements and service to his community are what make him a future leader of tomorrow. William will also receive a medal, certificate, and a place on the Carson Scholar Trophy at Canonsburg Middle School. In addition, William is invited to attend the Pittsburgh Carson Scholars Fund's Annual Awards Banquet.
