The students of Mrs. Porter's Advanced English class pictured above are hard at work preparing for the Socratic Seminar on Chapters One and Two from the novel, Lord of the Flies. During the Socratic Seminars, the students will focus their discussions around an essential question that is created for each seminar. After the first seminar, the students have displayed remarkable interpretative and analytical skills. Throughout the novel, the students will also meet in literature circles to further analyze the novel. Within the literature circles, each group member will have their own specific role. The roles are discussion director, connector, illustrator, vocabulary enhancer, symbols tracer, and character tracer.
